About the event
The end times never happened.
Instead, a rumour spreads of an ancient artifact that lies lost in the Drakwald forest. The strange magical aura of the artifact invades the sleeping dreams of lords, kings and generals around the world. Showing them alluring visions of great riches, endless power and victories in countless battles.
Now armies of all races, from each corner of the Warhammer world, march on the Drakwald to claim this mysterious artifact (it's identity soon to be revealed) to become the most powerful leader in the known world.
HOWEVER.... there are beasts and horrors of all kinds that swarm within those dark woods. They refuse to give up their home to trespassers without a fight.
Can you claim the title of ruler of Drakwald Forest? (and bragging rights in the Warhammer Community?)
Over a 2 day fun thematic 6th-edition event, you will have five 2500 point battles to fight for the title.

#𝟏- THE STRANGE REALM OF THE DRAKWALD
The environment your army walks into continually changes as your army gets deeper into thedark woods of the Drakwald.
Starting from the 2nd game of the event, you roll a D6 before playing your game to find out what scenario you will play...
Roll of 1 - Ambush! Both armies use beastmen ambush rules. At least half of your army should be on the table and at least 2 units have to use the ambush rule. Infantry, monsters, hounds and characters on foot only can ambush. No calvary or flyers. From turn 2, each ambushing unit can appear on a table edge of your choice - unless you fail a leadership test before coming onto the table. In that case, a scatter dice decides which table edge you come on from.
Roll of 2 - Chaos Shrine
You come across a huge chaos shrine in a clearing. It stands in the centre of the battlefield. The army with the closest unit to the shrine (minimum unit strength 3. If equal distance, the biggest unit strength) gets +2 power dice dice that turn and that unit itself gets magic resistance 2 that turn too. (dwarfs and khorne armies get +2 dispel as thier runes or weapons swell with power). No spells can be cast on units within 6" of the protective aura of the shrine. Any characters within 12" of the shrine get the regeneration rule. The shrine itself causes terror, even to chaos armies due to the confusing visions shown in their minds.
Roll of 3 - Attack of the Asrai
Chaos beasts are not the only danger in the forests of the Old World. 4 Wood Elf way watchers are hidden in each wood on the table (there must be 1 wood in each half of the table). Each shooting phase they shoot out at nearby units each shooting turn (measured from centre of wood). Choose the 3 nearest of each army. Number them up to 6 and roll to see who they shoot at (the opposite player rolls to hit and wound with the usual shooting modifiers). AND each general can cast treesinging as a bound spell lvl 4 each turn which can be dispelled.
Roll of 4 - Unnatural Roots
Roll a dice for each on your units at the beginning of each movement phase, as you would with animosity or unruly. On a role of 1, unnatural roots grab the ankles of the unit and stop them moving. Shooting units can still fire as normal and spell casters cast spells. Skirmishers, fast cav and anyone who does not suffer movement penalties through woods are unaffected by the roots as they are quick enough to escape.
Roll of 5 - Shifting forest of the Drakwald All terrain is taken off the table. Both armies deploy as normal in turn one by one. To represent how the land of the Drakwald is constantly shifting and moving, we then set the terrain. Once both armies are deployed, players then take turns to place down a single terrain peice at any point in the table they want (there should be 6 terrain peices per table, so you can roll for which to be able to place first). Terrain can be placed under units - eg a hill under war machines, or forests under units to hide. Scout units don't get placed until all terrain is placaed down (so you would deploy armies, deploy terrain and then deploy scouts in that sequence).
Roll of 6 - Law of the woods. Challenge! Only the strong leaders suvive in the Drakwald. Before the battle, the generals call for a challenge in one to one combat. Each lord is placed in the centre of the table in front of the already deployed armies. Each lord rolls at same time including magic items, weapons, armour and wards. Who ever causes most wounds wins. Both lords can still fight in the battle afterwards but the loser has -2 to all characteristics (except movement) for the battle (to a minimum of 2) as he is injured from the epic fight. A challenge CAN be refused but the cowardly lord has -4 to his leadership for the battle (Inc when his units try to use his LD) to a minimum of LD2 and everything causes fear to him/her if he is charged or charges, even halfings! Mounts are not included in challenge as the epic fight is fought on foot. HOWEVER - Wizard Lords can choose a hero in the army to fight in their stead. Skaven grey seers, brave and honorable as always, can choose other characters or monsters (eg rat ogre) to hide behind. Necromancers can raise a character or monster from thier army to fight in their place. However if your casters choose to use someone in their stead and loses, the Lord would be the person to take the penalties in the battle as theier were magically controlling their hero and took the pain instead.
#2 - THEY ARE COMING FROM THE TREELINE!!!
Each table will include 2 woods (one in each side of the table). At the beginning of each turn, the players roll a dice. On a roll of six, a random enemy charges frenzied from the trees and moves towards the nearest unit until it reaches combat via a charge (it goes towards the larger unit strength if its too closse to call which is closer. If same unit strenght, roll off to decide). You do not roll again while the new unit is still on the table. If the unit runs from combat it is removed from the table. You could see (decided by the organiser):
- Beastmen
- Giants
- Treemen
- Giant Chaos Spawns
- Greater Daemons
- Way Watchers
- Fimir
- Dryads
- Trolls
- Minotaurs
- Tuskogor Chariots
And much much more
#3 – SPECIAL NAMED CHARACTERS ARE NOW ALLOWED
Famous named special characters (Malekith, Skarsnik, Karl-Franz, Mannfred Von Carstien etc) are now ALLOWED.
However, we only can have one version of that character per event. For example, there can’t be 2 Beastmen armies with Khazrak One Eye or 2 wood elf armies with Orion.
So if you want the character in your army, you need to buy a ticket to be able to reserve that character so nobody else uses him/her as it will be a first come, first serve system with characters.
There is no reserving of characters without a ticket purchased.
Once you have purchased a ticket, we will contact you asking what character you have to use - if you do not want to use a special character that is fine!
You can only have 1 special named character or group that has to be together (eg Gotrek and Felix or Hemmler and Krell) per army when getting your ticket – Once all armies are in and all those that want a special character has reserved him /her, you can then reserve special named ‘hero’ characters too.
However, Archaeon is dead in our lore so he cannot be chosen in this event.
VICTORY
Games are decided by victory points.

FAQS:
- Yes your army has to be fully painted (each model has to have at least 3 colours) and based on a correct size base (contact us if you are not sure of official sizes).
- Yes proxy models are fine as long as they are easily recognisable (or at least with a bit of explanation!) and are on the correct base size.
- We cannot give refunds after October 1st 2023 as we have to pay for the venue by then. All we suggest after that point, if you cant make it, find a replacement to purchase a ticket off you on the Warhammer Fantasy Facebook pages.
- We cannot 'reserve' places at the event. Only purchasing a ticket guarantees you a place at the event.
- You cannot 'reserve' a special character until your ticket has been purchased. Please feel free to message 'Dave Warhammer' of the 'Tales From The Old World' page on Facebook to see if your character is still available.
- When it comes to army lists, as long as it is listed in an official GW publication (inc white dwarf) it is allowed unless it is against any other of the event rules. We reserve the right to politely ask for changes if your army is clearly overpowered (you dont want everyone to hate you do you haha)
- Yes if you and your opponent would prefer to CHOOSE a environment/scenario instead of rolling for one, thats fine!
- Yes, if you prefer to not roll scenarios in your game at all and just have a straight 1v1 pitch battle, feel free.
